Baritone Kostas Smoriginas
Orchestra Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra
Conductor Gintaras Rinkevičius

On the New Year's Eve, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra invites you to a concert of the most beautiful opera arias, which has already become a lovely tradition. This year the special guest of the gala  is a world-class Lithuanian baritone, Kostas Smoriginas. Soon after moving to London in 2005 to study at the Royal College of Music, he set on a path for a prominent international career. After the soloist's performance in France, Forum Opera wrote: "Kostas Smoriginas' voice is splendid, powerful and rich in a great variety of colours. But Smoriginas is also a fine musician who manages to give a lot of humanity to his character and to make him almost sympathetic despite his dark designs." His remarkable artistry has led the singer to the world's top opera stages, including Royal Opera House Covent Garden, La Scala Milan, the Deutsche Opera Berlin and others. The artist has also debuted in the United States appearing in the role of Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro by Mozart) at Washington National Opear and San Francisco Opera. Interestingly enough, in 2014, Kostas Smoriginas was one of the three most often performing bass-baritones in the world, according to the Bachtrack database of classical music.
