***
“Lithuanian Trombone Project and Loreta Sungailienė” is a unique musical project presented by a professional trombone ensemble, percussionist Artūras Maniušis and folk singer, ethnomusicologist Loreta Sungailienė.

The main initiator of the project and the author of many compositions is a trombone virtuoso, conductor and composer Vytautas Pilibavičius, who mesmerizes the audiences with his improvisations and original works in both Lithuania and abroad. The program of the “Lithuanian Trombone Project and Loreta Sungailienė” features original compositions by Vytautas Pilibavičius and Lithuanian and Lithuanian folk songs from different regions of Lithuania arranged by Jievaras Jasinskis. The works combine sensitive poetics of folk songs, vigorous melody and modern jazz harmony, song performance close to authentic stylistics and masterful interpretations of jazz and contemporary music. The compositions of the project vary in style, mood, fusion of folk, jazz fusion and funk music. The concert is led by vocalist and ethnomusicologist L. Sungailienė, who not only presents the ethno-cultural context of the compositions she performs, but also engages the audience in improvisations based upon sutartinės and other folk songs. The fusion of different styles of music styles and genre,s and unique synergy of artists creates an interesting and attractive overview of contemporary Lithuanian musical culture.

Having started in 2018, together with this project the performers actively organize concerts in various cities of Lithuania and participate in international jazz festivals. The uniqueness of the project and the professionalism of the performers was highly appreciated at the international jazz festivals in Odessa, Vinica, Varna and Kaliningrad. “The Lithuanian Trombone Project and Loreta Sungailienė” is another contemporary look at folklore and a new page in the history of Lithuanian trombone music.
