Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra invites you to the anniversary concert of Algirdas Januševičius, a famous Lithuanian trumpet player, concertmaster of the trumpet section of the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, founder and artistic director of the “Capital Brass Quintet”.

A. Januševičius was born in Klaipėda, studied at the Stasys Šimkus Conservatory, and later continued his studies at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where he met his future wife, composer and teacher Nailia Galiamova. In 1987 the family moved to Klaipėda. At that time, A. Januševičius worked at the Klaipėda Musical Theatre as a concertmaster of the trumpet section. In 1993 another move took him to Vilnius, where he became the concertmaster of the trumpet section of the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra. In 1997 he founded the "Capital Brass Quintet".

A. Januševičius has given concerts with various ensembles in about 40 world countries, the most famous concert halls of Japan, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Italy, France, Egypt, Taiwan and other countries, played with such conductors as Saulius Sondeckis, Christoph Eschenbach, Mstislav Rostropovich, Krzysztof Penderecki, Juozas Domarkas, Vladimir Ponkin, Dmitry Liss, Jonas Aleksa and others. Recently, A. Januševičius started performing more often as a soloist. Tonight, the trumpeter prepared a program for listeners, in which he will play as many as 7 different instruments together with his son, a famous pianist Gintaras Januševičius, daughter jazz singer Donata Januševičiūtė and colleague Remigijus Gumuliauskas, concertmaster of the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra’s trombone section.

Pianist Gintaras Januševičius made his debut on the big stage when he was only 15 – he gave a concert with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra at the Vilnius Congress Hall, and a week later also performed in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. G. Januševičius studied for a year at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, and later continued his studies in Hanover (Germany) with Professors Vladimir Krainev and Bernd Goetzke. Since 2004 the pianist has been living in Hanover; apart from concerts in Germany, Lithuania, USA, Brazil, China, Italy, France, Spain and other countries, he also devotes a lot of time to educational activities. G. Januševičius created the popular concert series “Plathner’s Eleven” in Hanover and conducted it for seven years. In 2014 in Germany he also founded the competition "Hannover Music Talent Exchange", which instantly became very famous. His “Klaipėda Piano Masters” piano academy is successfully seeking recognition in Lithuania.

Donata Januševičiūtė is a pianist, singer and teacher who has been living in Germany for the last seven years. This year, the Lithuanian, who has firmly taken root in the jazz scene, is releasing her first album, which was recorded together with the musicians of jazz star Roger Cicero.

Tonight, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by the talented conductor of the young generation Karolis Variakojis, who is leading one of the most prominent contemporary music ensembles "Synaesthesis".
