Power is also highly regarded worldwide as a chamber musician. He is frequently invited to perform at prestigious festivals such as Verbier (Switzerland), Salzburg (Austria), Aspen (USA), Oslo (Norway), and others, sharing the stage with world-class musicians including Joshua Bell, Maxim Vengerov, Steven Isserlis, Nicolas Altstaedt, Simon Crawford-Phillips, Vilde Frang, and more. In 2021, Lawrence was named an Associate Artist of London’s Wigmore Hall for a five-year term, guaranteeing at least one appearance per season at this prestigious concert venue.
Known for the remarkable richness of his tone, dazzling technical mastery, and passion for contemporary music, Lawrence Power has played a vital role in elevating the viola on the world stage—not only through his recitals, chamber music performances, and concerto appearances, but also through his establishment of the Viola Commissioning Circle, an initiative that commissions new works for the instrument. Thanks to this program, some of the world’s most distinguished composers have created an invaluable body of repertoire for the viola, which continues to expand every year.
