Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra announces an audition for the position of Principal Timpani (with obligation to play percussion)
Salary: from €3000 to €3300 gross.
The audition will be held in two rounds:
- Round I – Video Audition
- Round II – Live Audition
Round I – Video Audition
1. A marimba piece of the performer’s choice (up to 5 minutes).
2. Snare drum Bent Lylloff - Årchus Etude No.9
3. Timpani Nick Wood Etude No.22 from ‘Symphonic Studies for Timpani’
4. Xylophone Gershwin – Overture to Porgy and Bess
5. Campanelli Dukas - ‘L'apprenti sorcier’

The video audition will be used as a qualification round for the live audition in March 2026.
Deadlines:
- The video link must be submitted by March 1, 2026
- Invitations to the live audition will be sent to selected candidates by March 8, 2026
- Live audition for selected candidates on April 1, 2026

Recorded Audition Requirements:
- All submissions must be video recordings, recorded in the same venue
- The recorded audition should emulate a live audition
- Each solo piece / set of excerpts must be recorded as a separate track
- No editing, cutting, or audio/video enhancement is permitted
- Each track must be titled: YOUR NAME – Excerpts
Video files must be hosted on external platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo, or SoundCloud, and linked during the application process.

???? The live audition will take place in April 1st, 2026 at the LVSO Concert Hall, Vilniaus g. 6-1, Vilnius.
Each participant will be offered a rehearsal opportunity in the concert hall one day prior to the live audition. A rehearsal schedule will be provided after completion of Round I.
